We are a group of Gen‑X creatives who are also parents, uncles, and aunts. As kids, the only things we did on weekends were playing soccer, riding our bikes at East Coast Park, or catching the latest movie. Our parents didn’t send us for enrichment classes and most of us were in bed at a decent hour.
Yet, our children are put through a different kind of ritual nowadays. GEP screening, DSA prep, study camps... rinse and repeat. Sure, it’s natural to want your kids to succeed in life, but at what cost?
We wanted to make this film to start the right conversations between parents and educators, parents and other parents, and most of all, parents and their kids. Because the pursuit of academic success is not only depriving our kids of their childhood, it is also robbing us of our children.
